Introduction
SSL certificates are essential for securing connections between your website and visitors by encrypting data transmitted over the network. FASTPANEL® offers various options for working with SSL certificates, allowing you to manage your website's security efficiently. Here’s a brief overview of each option:
Install an Existing SSL Certificate
If you already have an SSL certificate purchased and issued from a certificate authority (CA), you can easily install it through FASTPANEL®. To proceed, make sure the certificate is ready, including the private key and certificate chain files if required.
Install a Let's Encrypt Certificate
FASTPANEL® provides a streamlined way to obtain and install an SSL certificate from Let's Encrypt, a popular, free certificate authority. With just a few clicks, you can secure your website with a Let's Encrypt SSL certificate. These certificates are free and automatically renewed by FASTPANEL®, which makes this a convenient option for most websites.
Create a Self-signed Certificate
FASTPANEL® allows you to generate a self-signed certificate. While self-signed certificates are not trusted by default in web browsers, they can be useful in development environments or for internal services.
Create a Certificate Signing Request (CSR)
If you need to purchase an SSL certificate from a trusted certificate authority, you’ll first need to generate a Certificate Signing Request (CSR). FASTPANEL® can create a CSR for you, which you can then submit to your chosen CA. After the certificate is issued, you can return to FASTPANEL® to install it on your server.
